Can you explain Twitter to me?  I feel old.  Do I need to tweet?  Who do I follow?  How do I find them/you?

Wow, what a blast! 

Ann is an amazing teacher, and her patterns are outstanding! It was two days of fun and knowledge gathering.  I won't say I'm an expert now, so don't ask me for advice.  See that lady down in the left-hand corner?  That's Cathy, she's the expert.  Ask her.  (Just kidding Cathy! Sorry, no link, 'cuz she'll kill me, really, she's like that. Hee!)

As you can see Ann needed a few tips on proper lace blocking so the big pic in the middle is me showing her how to do it right. And, also, I am a ham. But you knew that, right?

What was interesting is that these ladies in these pictures can be the LOUDEST, funnest (word?), hilarious women I know. But, in this class there was a lot of thinking going on, and a whole lotta quiet. 

I've found that I have a slight problem.  I can't knit lace.  But, that's ok!

For family and friends who are curious: My back is doing GREAT!  I do NOT want to do the shot now (this week) because I only have twinges now and again.  But, I've been warned that it's just gone to sleep a bit, and it will come back AGAIN with a vengeance... Ah yes, being almost 43 has it's advantages.

Here's a swatch I did of a little something I'm working on, inspired by Brooklyntweed's newest project...  I did it yesterday while watching the rest of Season 1 of the TV show Glee.  Which is why the above YouTube is sooooo great!  Glee is amazing!

 

This weekend I'm going to a two day workshop on Lace Knitting with Ann of Knitspot fame.  Which I'm very excited about.  It seems like I signed up for this sometime in August, I don't remember, but it's been a LONG time!

I was all set to start posting regularly, but on the health front I just couldn't do it!  And, I hate reading blogs where all there is to read is complaining, whining, and over all blah-ness.  So, really I had nothing to tell you guys at all.  Here it is in a nutshell... Get ready for my version of complaining, whining, and over all blah-ness. Skip over this if you don't care, it won't hurt my feelings, but my family really wants to know, so here goes!

Christmas Eve, I woke up with a pain in my neck, literally.  I have had it many times before, but this time seemed much more serious.  I went to the Dr.  who put me on oral steroids, and sent me to get an MRI.  The steroids gave me an terrific ulcer, made me nauseous, etc.  I lost 8 lbs.  Hey, I'll take it where I can get it. 

The MRI results show many things.  Specific words are "right paracentral disk protrusion, contacting and compressing the anterior aspect of the cord," and, "broad disk bulge and osteophyte," and, "SEVERE left-sided C7 foraminal stenosis" All of these things are in C4-5, C5-6, C6-7 level disks.  As well as the T6-7, and T7-8 disks. (C is for Cervical/neck, and T is for Thorasic, or upper back)

Lovely....

All this to say my neck hurts.  What it is doing is pressing on a specific nerve root that extends down into my arm and feels like I have some dumb jock digging his thumb into my shoulder, upper arm and forearm.  (or, Mom, an Italian woman trying to hustle me onto a water taxi).  I want to lay down ALL THE TIME.  Does this work? No, I have kiddos to look after, drive around, entertain.  I have a husband, who needs a wife.  I can't just check out.  The pain drugs don't really help in this department, and I've been off of them for almost 10 days now just taking the muscle relaxant, which surprisingly doesn't make me loopy at all, or relaxed.  I stopped those three days ago.

What to do?  I'm trying to go the conservative route.  But, the next step is a shot into the specific disk, that is causing the most problems and that might give me a small window of time I can function.  But, it looks like surgery is in my future.  I'll do anything at this point.  I'd rather give birth three times in a row, than live like this. Now I know what people who live with Chronic Pain feel like.  I refuse to be one of those people who live on drugs, so that is why I stopped, but for lack of a better word, this really, really, really, really, really, stinks.

I want my Dr. Neveln.  There is no Dr. better,  but he's in San Diego.  I guess he's a comfort thing.  I miss him badly.  Something wrong?  Call Bob! He's one of my parents best friends since they all met in College in San Diego all those years ago, and I WANT MY MOMMY AND DADDY! Ok, crying now, but I'm done. I just hurt.

My version of complaining, whining, and over all blah-ness is over now.

Collapse Weave, and Handspun Fingerless Mitts

1. Our Salad for dinner tonight. Yellow organic tomato, feta, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, salt and pepper

2.  Corn for dinner too!

3. Not pictured, but gourmet hamburgers made by The Man, and boy were they GREAT, even though I have to eat them without the bun, (drat).

4. Some hand-dyed roving, handspun by me, knit by me fingerless mitts.  I finally wove in the ends.

5. This weekend's weaving.  It was Collapse Weave with Betsy Blumenthal.  Oh my word, I want her mind.  Besides the fact that she's famous, and her work is amazing, she's nice too!  I bought two scarves from her, in both of the drafts we did this weekend and I'll try to remember to photograph them and put them on here for you guys to see.  Simply beautiful.

Spinning and Weaving

I've lost a little interest in this blog.  I'm not sure why.  I guess that happens once in awhile, but pressing on...

I've got photos, and really, what's a blog post with out photos?

I think I'll make this into a three ply, we'll see though.  I've got 12 full oz.  And, it's purty!

I made this scarf in August, and posted it on Facebook, forgetting to post it here.  It's woven out of Tencel and Ohhhhh so soft. Why does my face look splotchy?  weird!

I spun some gold.  Love it.  I got quite a bit of yardage out of this one skein as a three ply. 

And, here I am waiting for Kid 1 at her Jr. High.  See those buses?  I elected to drive her to a closer school.  But the buses are enticing.  I've gotta be there at 2:30 on the DOT!  It's ok, it's good Mommy/Daughter time.

More later! Because I've got more to show.  I've just been saving it all up for you.
