Now, would 'ya look at that! A new baby fawn born right in our very own backyard. We think he's less than a day old. He gets up every once in awhile to call for his mama, and then he hides again. At this point we found his hiding place, snapped some photos and left him alone. If his mom doesn't come by tonight, it'll be rescue time over here.
He's about 10 in. long all folded up like this in a little package. Ohhhh, did I ever want to pick him up and cuddle him.....
Here's some old guys roaming around that you've all seen before. They decided to eat some of the new leaves off of our trees.
And, we've been having some extreme weather around here. Check out this sky directly over our house.
It doesn't even capture the green color there in the middle, but boy it was there. Later, my friends at knitting told me that a green sky means TORNADO. I don't doubt it....while taking these pictures there was NO wind, but strangely, there were no birds chirping, no sound at all. About 50 pics later, and about 2 minutes later, we had rain flying sideways and wind up the wazoo. Within 15 min. the basement was flooding, and we were busy hiding from the lightening and thunder that were happening simultaneously. That's never happened here before! Crazy stuff man, weather.

Wow, what an adorable baby fawn. Please post and let us know if Mama comes back. My friend had a Mama Mallard sitting on a next of eggs in her backyard for months. Finally she flew off, the eggs never were fertilized, someone forgot to tell her. That mothering instinct is a strong one, by golly......

He's so beautiful! We had one born in the woods next to our house last year and he still comes by to - eat our hosta!!

O M G keep us posted on the little fawn. He just melts my heart. I hope his momma comes for him poor thing. :(
Is that a moose? Those are some impressive antlers.
and your friends are right. Shades of green and erie stillness are prime TORNADO weather. I have friends who see the sky get black and freak out saying there will be a tornado and i say is it green? is it STILL? and they say no, i say i've been in 4 tornadoes and it was always green and still at some point before all hell broke loose. Good thing you were safe inside...poor little fawn.

Ooh! See that green glow in the sky off to your northwest? That's me radiating with jealousy! Such cuteness!

Soooo glad to read about your latest projects. I got the bread book and gave it a try but not the best to heat the oven in the hot weather. Maybe I will try again in fall. Hope you are feeling ok. I will call and we can catch up. Jan

The mama's leave the babies during the day and come back to get them. Just to warn you a friend's dog was stomped on by a doe the other morning, she came out of nowhere and attacked, the fawn must have been nearby otherwise I've never heard of them harming another animal.

Oh no. Now I'm gonna loose sleep worrying about the fawn.
Green sky? Head for the (higher) hills!
