Since I'm not skiing I've had a lot of free time here in Aspen this year. Yesterday I stayed home and did nothing but knit and watch movies. But today..... that's a different story.
I decided to hike up the hill and watch the Women's Giant Slalom on Run 1 on Ajax. It's the run next to the gondola in town about two blocks from the house. Let me start by telling you it was all uphill at 9,000 feet, and my foot hurts, but I'm determined. Yes-siree. I got up there and watched about an hour of very cool skiing, some wipeouts, and interesting people. If you follow these things, France came in first. (and if you are reading this Scout, I was thinking of you!)
From there I hiked back down and fell twice in the street along with several other people at the same time and knocked my camera and my booty pretty hard once. All I cared about was not hurting my foot. Not a prob. I decided to eat at Zele' and had my favorite lobster bisque with a spinach and cheese sandwitch. Yumm. And, I had a view of the hill.
I decided to cross the street and up a block to check out Amen Wardy's store and get some cool gifts. Tis' the Season and all. I open the door and there is the most beautiful German Shepherd stretching his neck out to greet me. I immediately bend down and talk to him, petting and smoothing his beautiful fur. I didn't look up to the owner, but I hear him say, "this is Max." I keep talking to Max and loving on him and I ask, "how old?"'
Him: He's 1 and 1/2
Me: We'll he's beautiful!
Him: Thanks, we got him in Germany.
Me: Wow! Are all his commands in German?
Him: Yes, but we've had them before, so I know the commands already. Wow, that's quite a camera you have there. What is it?
Me: Oh thanks! It's a Cannon 40D. I'm not skiing this trip because of a healing broken foot, but I did hike up to see the Womens World Cup and took some amazing photos.
Me: [Pat, Pat, Pat] Ha, here I am talking to you and I just had Spinach and I probably have some in my teeth.
Him: Let me see....
Me: [Grimacing] eeeeeeeeeeee!!!
Him: Nope, you're clear and good to go.
Me: Funny, thanks! We'll he's beautiful! You look kindof familiar....
Him: I'm Robert Wagner.
Me: Oh wow, nice to meet you! [crap!] Oh great, and you just inspected my teeth.
Him: Haha. Not a problem. So are you going up again this afternoon to see the girls ski again?
Me: No, not unless they install a chairlift right here, cuz' I'm done walking.
Him: We'll we're just in here shopping. Amen is one of my good friends and he does a lot of stuff for us, so we are just checking things out. Taking Max out for a walk.
Just then, a beautiful, fur-coated woman with bright red hair swept over and started talking to Mr. Wagner and I decided to scoot away. It was his wife Jill St. John.
Him: Bye! Nice to meet you!
Nicest celebrity EVER. Most normal conversation EVER. I'm impressed. And, DANG he's good looking.
