Well, I've gone and done it. I've started my own
website. It's launched and ready to go. I've loaded some fibers, Aspen Sock, and Snowmass Sock. And, there will be many more items available coming soon. I'm waiting on a few big orders from a few vendors to arrive.
You'll still be able to get my yarns and fibers at the normal stores who carry them. I'm also expanding my wholesale list of stores, and will let you know when and where that happens.
So, will you let me know what you think? And, will you help me spread the news that I've opened up my store on-line?

Spun during the news and channel surfing with The Man after the kids had gone to bed. (I tell you knitting and spinning save my sanity sitting in front of the TV with him. He can watch 20 things at once - and if you don't believe me, ask my parents, who refuse to ever let him have the clicker - EVER)
I think the yarn is between laceweight and fingering.
I have those two bobbins with leftovers and I can ply a little bit from those. Then, I thought, I'd split up the bobbin singles and ply those, so I at least have all the yarn to use for a project.
I'm proud because it is the smallest diameter yarn I've ever produced and I worked hard at it. I've tried to spin with a project in mind - some sort of wrap or a shawl, so I'm happy it worked. I think I need to take a class here in Boulder from the Shuttles Spindles and Skeins guru Maggie Casey. One starts in January. Man I miss my old teacher from San Diego. And, I feel badly that all I did was spin in there and not really pay attention to most of the stuff she taught for spinning, all the good technical stuff.
On the knitting front? Not so much. I kindof hurt my right arm knitting up a storm a few weeks ago, so I'm giving it a rest. Since I spin as a lefty, or long-draw as a righty it doesn't hurt it, so I'm getting it healed up and ready for some crazy knitting coming soon.
Show me what you've got on your blog - I need a kick in the patootie to get my knitting mojo back. Anyone out there?

So last night I got out a little handful of one of my beautiful fleeces I bought this summer at the Estes Wool Festival and decided to comb it. I didn't wash it first so that means I did it all in the grease. That was heaven. The smell, the feel, it was perfect. This is an especially clean fleece so there was absolutely NO VM or little "extras" that nobody likes to find. (That means poop...) I combed two small rovings and decided to spin them up and ply. It definitely wanted to be spun very fine, even in the grease, and this could be because I combed the fluff, instead of carding it. If that is the case, I can see myself needing to process the whole fleece myself using my Alvin Ramer combs (The Man bought them for me for my birthday about 3 years ago - They are the Super Mini-Combs, scroll down the page a bit and you'll see them.) I'll show you the whole process in a later post.
Here is the end result. I got 21 yards with 0.1 oz. or 4 grams of fiber. That's some TINY yarn and it weights NOTHING! (see dime for size)

So yesterday, I taught the girls how to spin and seriously, they got it in 10 minutes. Sheesh, I got it in about three weeks. See what happens when you get old! You can't teach an old dog new tricks, unless you give them three weeks... Ha. So that was fun.
And, I've been doing some spinning myself. Kindof obsessively, but wouldn't you expect that from me?
Here is a fun batt I made and spun with coils. I call it Pink-Snail. About 55 yards. What do I do with this?
This is Merino, silk and various other colors of Merino thrown in making an incredible single of yarn that feels like heaven.

And, this is Ruby Necklace, a batt made by one of my friends up in Boulder. Her store is called Red Stone Yarns and she makes some beautiful yarns. You can see this on the bobbin in you scroll back a few posts. I have about 550 yards of laceweight. What to do.... what to do....

The tip 6 are silk hankies for spinning, and the rest are merino, merino/silk. merino/tencel and a batt. I'll be adding in some funky batts on the site as well.
