Ok, so yeah, I've gotta have another foot surgery

Kindof a bummer, but my foot is not healing properly.  I noticed it about 4 weeks ago and sure enough I've gotta do it again, but this time much more "seriously."

Here's the bizzy.  This time they are going to fuse the bones at the bendy part up high on your foot (below the ankle), make two more cuts in the toe and the lower metatarsal of the big toe. I'll be non-weight bearing (no walking, running, or jumping, DANG!!!!) for 8  weeks.

So, this little guy to the left there will be my friend for 8 weeks.  Except, I requested that I have a basket on the front.  Oh, yeah.... I'm already going to be dorky as it is, scootin' around on m'knee, but add the basket, and that adds a whole 'nuther dimension. Can't wait.  I mean really.   

I'm not asking for sympathy and I have only one complaint.  This has been going on since October, y'all.  I'm kindof done with it. 

I know what to expect this time, so get ready for more fainting stories!  This is the part that really scares and freaks Byron out.  Me?  I don't even remember much of it, but I did it on a daily basis.  It's the pain.

"D" day is March 5th.  This time, since it is much more serious, and I don't really react well to the pain and the meds that go with it, they are keeping me in over night at the hospital.  After that, it's all Byron, all the time.  My parents can't make it this time (grrrrr) so it's just him for 8 days.  Then Byron's mom comes to help with the kids and give Byron a break, because he is going to go nuts...But when she comes all will be well.  Food will be cooked and eaten, buns will be made, and eaten.  Kids will be entertained.  She's great like that.

So, who wants to come over and knit in bed with me?  Can you send me some movies and some TV shows on DVD for me to watch?  Last time, it was HGTV all day.  How do people watch TV during the day?  Man, there are some dumb shows - not to mention BORING.  Of course the first 4-5 days all I do is sleep off and on, with the TV on and off, but still, daytime TV just is BAD.   Oh yeah, Almond M&M's are my favorite as well.  And, ice water.  Send all of those things. Also, I need magazines and books that you have loved.  Come to think of it, Rowan yarn might make me feel better too.  And, maybe the latest Rowan Mag.  Ok, so there you go.  That's it in a nutshell.

I've decided Byron needs one too.  Won't we look cute together?

Quick Post

I have a friend with wild hair.  If I had the guts, I would do it too.  She also has a full sleeve tattoo(s) and it is SO dang cool - again, if I had the guts.....

But I digress - I dyed this yarn and as I skeined it up with Stacey from Sheep in the City , and my friend of the funky hair, Kelly from Kelly Girl Knits , I looked up and saw this...

They MATCH!!!!  Ok, so she needed this yarn.  Ya know, she just needed it.

Stacey is re-skeining a million  skeins for me - she's getting paid, AND, she also needed this yarn. 

Done....

And, here's a few skeins I dyed up quickly yesterday.  They are dry now and ready to head down to Stacey's for a little work out. They look a little neon-ish, here, but not so in real life.

So, I'm still persuing the on-line idea.  And, I'll still update you on my surgery later, but I gotta run for now!

And, Thanks for all the comments.  Typepad is not sending me emails STILL and I can't respond to you.  So what I'm going to do is respond here in my next post.  I appreciate EVERY comment and all of your great ideas.  Thank you and keep it up...

CUT

Well, after spending the long weekend up in Vancouver, B.C. with my in-laws I got the big NIX, NO, ABSOLUTELY NOT, on growing out my grays.  I was there for no more than 2 hours, when my sister-in-laws (plural) took one look at my aging self and said, "WHAT are you doing to yourself..." One of them practically RAN to the phone to call, "my girl" and set me up for a hair cut and color on Saturday at 1:30 PM SHARP.  Ok, so I guess I was going a little tooooo granola, even for myself.  I came out of there with a new head of hair, albeit 4 inches shorter and significantly colored. "My Girl" did a good job.  Maybe I just need to fly up there for each and every upkeep this body needs.  Hey, I've even had laser hair removal on my eyebrows done up there.  Yeah, you heard it - a blazing beam of light  directed at my eyebrows.

Oh but you do, 'cuz I seem to tell a bit much here on my blogga.

They also took me shopping.  Believe it or not, we shopped at the HUGE Canadian Superstore.  Think Target, Walmart, and a nice sportswear store all wrapped into one giant warehouse. I bought some hanging out clothes for my upcoming surgery.  "What's that?" you say?  Yes, I have to have another surgery on the same foot.  It's not good.  But, more on that later.

Ok, so onto the selling my yarns on-line.  I really want to do this.  But, here are some thoughts and you guys can shoot them down for me one by one, by thinking of various ways to get around them......

1.  I have to sell them at the prices the stores I currently support sell them for.  I sell them at a set wholesale price.  Some stores sell them at full retail, and some sell them a just a bit below.  I cannot and will not undercut my stores, that would be shooting myself in the foot, and then I'd have to have another surgery, and that would just be a pain.

2. I would only be able to ship one day a week.  Let's say you order on a Monday and I only ship on Friday (or whatever day I choose to make my mail day - the shlep to the post office is not an easy one) Are you as the consumer willing to wait.

3.  I have some seconds.  Meaning, I have some skeins that didn't turn out right, or have too many knots.  Would you be willing to buy these at a discount?  I have no problem selling them if you already know the problem with the skeins.

4.  I can sell on-line the yarns that aren't big sellers for the stores.  That would be great.  They are awesome - at least I think so. Which brings me tooooooo....

I think it would be great if you sold online. I know it is more work but I think it would be best to have a picture of the skein (or at least each "lot") taken. Most of each batch seem to be similar enough but if one is very different you might get a better response from a separate picture of it. Posted by: Michelle |

I think I could do this.  No problem.  A picture of one skein from each dyelot would work great.  A picture of each yarn, would be WAY too much.  Good idea Michelle.

Yep, I sure do Emily, and you gave me the idea to sell those on line.  I have some stores buying some of my "good" stuff, but some don't.  That would be a great way to show off the other yarns I have. 

Okay, I saw the picture first and didn't read the post cuz all I was thinking was throwing myself - face first - into the middle of all that yarn yumminess!

Hi Hilari, I often find myself face first in the pile of yarn waiting to be re-skeined, when I wake up out of the coma, I realize that the fumes just got to me, and I need to sell the stuff to keep me in the yarny lifestyle I've come to get used to.  It's not easy, let me tell you.  Thanks for the compliment!

I have a question for you...

Here it is.... 

Would you guys like to see my yarns sold on-line? If so, would you like to see pictures of the actual yarns you would be getting, or a dyed example?  My yarns are all, of course, hand painted, and kettle dyed, so they never turn out the same, just similar.
