Well, as you have already guessed, I've started dying yarn and selling wholesale to a few stores with a few more in the works. I'm not sure wholesale is where the money is, but it's fun for now. I have sock yarns to show on here, but I have Silk, Merino-Silk, Merino, Alpaca, from lace weight to bulky in all of them. I'm working on a web-site, and who knows where this will go. It's fun for now, and I don't really plan on having the same set 7 colors as some dyers do. I need my FREEDOM! Maybe if I get bigger (in ten years or so, heh) I'll start having colorways that stick, but for now, this is more fun. I do have a few that are requested over and over, and those are easy to do, but break out of the mold people! Anyway, there you go. The news. And, I'm sure you all saw it coming. It is just too fun not to do. I'll let you know when the web-site goes live.
Today I dyed about 160 skeins. For me alone, that is a LOT. I had the privilege of "apprenticing" with a professional dyer a few times, and I learned a lot, but not enough. She had RACKS and racks of skeins drying and hanging on all these special set-ups. At the time I just wanted to learn how to dye for myself. I'm not sure she would want to have shown me more or not, but, I sure had fun doing it and that girl had it GOING ON! Talk about organized, and stunning colors. If only I had paid more attention. Dang. Scout, any tips? Can I come learn from you?
Anyway, here are the colors I did today. 10 of each.
175 yds. 100% superwash wool. Fingering Weight. Each color has a name, but Typepad won't let me tell you. Sometimes Typepad bugs. Anyway, I tried to catch the colors correctly, and most of the time the photo shows it right.
These are all off to a store up in Arvada, unless my other favorite store in Littleton grabs them first. Just kidding Gerri! The last batch I dyed (60 skeins) for Knit Knack were ALL gone in three days.
Suzanne, do you need any sock yarn??? I can bring you a load when I come in August. Did I already tell you guys that I'm coming for the month of August? We leave around July 23rd or so, and I stay until the 20th or so with the kids. Byron can't stay that long, but I CAN! WooHoo! Knitting in La Jolla, here I come!
Here is my label with all the specks on the back:
Ok, nighty night folks. And, wish me luck.
That, is all she wrote...

Hey Mary-Kay,
Are you going to have an etsy shop? I wanted to talk about your yarn on the podcast but wanted to be able to reference your shop so people could buy it :-)

Hi Mary Kay! My scarf came out fantastic using this yarn. I've had to already give the scarf as a gift, but I had a little extra so I can knit up a sample to show you. Pictures of the finished product will be posted on my blog tomorrow, now that you have made your "announcement"!
Congratulations on your new endeavor. Based on the response at Knit Knack, it will be a very popular product.
I can't wait to use my "Italian Love Affair" on something...

Wow - 160 skeins? That's awesome. I've found your spot by way of Ree's gallery. Too bad you're halfway across the country as I've just taken up spinning. I'll check back often to see what you're up to. Hope your endeavor is very successful. You've got a great logo.
