Today my good friend Wendy Black, who I call "Wendy Spin" emailed with some shocking and sad news. She had been on vacation in Mexico and Peru with her husband having a great time, but then got a call during the trip that her mother died in Wendy's home while taking care of Wendy's awesome greyhounds. If you know her please send her an email or commnent on her site.
I'm flying out tonight to go to the memorial service held on Coronado Island tomorrow. I wish I were going home on a happier note, but this is a good thing.
So here is what I've been doing: As usual click on each picture to make them larger...
This is the class quilt that the kids made and I pieced together for the silent auction for the 4th graders. Here is a close up of the quilting on the edge. I did it because I REALLY messed up on the binding and this was a good way to hide the problems...
This picture below is titled, "My Ball of Yarn is Actually an Acorn" or, "My Ball of Yarn is Wearing a Mod Hat". How can I NOT knit that sweater - I mean LOOK, she is shoveling SNOW!!!!!
Next up.... Another top down easy sweater by Knitting Pure and Simple.
Not much to show, but it's fun knitting with my new very FAVORITE yarn-- Malibrigo. WAYYYYYY softer than Manos, and the colors are beautiful. (Maybe not as "sturdy?" Check them out Suzanne! I'll bring you a skein to feel.)
Now for the next big project. My Shelving for my massive "Collection" (click for new Knitty article) of yarn and books.
Ah hem.... is this room really a STORE? Shoot. How embarrassing. I'll be selling a LOT of that stuff off so look for that coming at the beginning of March. Those bags are roving or raw fiber, so I'm ok there. It's just that yarn===== Some of it I'm looking at I just wonder WHAT-THE-HECK-I-WAS-THINKING-IT-IS-SO-UGLY!?!
A lot of it is sock yarn, and I've yet to be successful at that so I'll be selling MOST of my "Socks that Rock" stash. Oh yeah baby, you heard RIGHT!
Oh well, live and learn.
Ok last but NOT least. The very best part!!!
Ok folks, I'm hoping to make a stop in at my favorite knitting store "Knitting in La Jolla" while in San Diego and I'll give you a report when I get back.
And, That's all she wrote!
