It started snowing last night. It didn't stop all day. Tonight we have about 2 feet of snow and it is absolutly stunning here. All four of us are in our glory and The Man is in such a good mood. You might not know this but he is from Vancouver, B.C. and he is most happy in the cold and snow. The Man needs his snow and what a difference 5 days make.

Well, can I just say, that snow is awesome? My house is warm and cozy, and outside it is a winter-wonderland. I've hung out on ski-hills from Austria, Switzerland, Canada and the good 'ol US of A and of course seen snow galore. But, nothing beats snow out the windows of your own house. Thank you God! And as I wrote this, it is snowing HARD!
Below is a scarf I'm making for my friend Carolyn. She and her husband (friends from college) are the ones who put us up the whole time we've been checking out houses and then buying. They have a basement that is really comfortable and we sure enjoyed it. She picked out the yarn to match her leather jacket.
Missy has been going on errands with me because I can't bear leaving her home alone in a new place. She is attached to my hip, and has to move if I move. That's hard for an old lady like her. She is absolutly the BEST dog EVER!!!
Here is Kid 1 entering her classroom for the first time. We were nice and early so she could meet her teacher and a few girls who were there. Of course Mommy was the one who was mostly nervous. So nervous in fact, that I let them ride the bus home and I followed it with my car. How dorky is that. I just found out today that the bus will be picking up and dropping off RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE. There are no other kids up my way, so we get our own stop! I see some cookies coming the bus driver's way. Har!

We made it! WooHoo! Thanks everyone for all the comments and emails about the move. Thanks for the prayers and the good wishes, I know they helped! 
The Truck coming up our street! Our stuff is here!!!!
Well, Here we are in our new home and things are going well. Except for the flood in the laundry room down in the basement, all is well. I got lucky, I put the girls in the shower, went to the basement to put some laundry in (my new washer and dryer) and saw water flooding up out of the drain. Seems there were paper towels flushed down the toilet on move-in day by the polish mover-guy. Our septic system just can't handle that. I screamed up to The Man to get the girls out of the shower and about two hours later, a plumber showed up.
Our first morning in the house I woke up at 5:30 AM to this....
Anyway, We are madly unpacking, and I am wondering WHY oh WHY do I have so much stuff? Besides my crazy spending habits. I know some of you are laughing out there. You internets are savy. You KNOW me and my spending habits. But when did all this STUFF come into our lives? I've got S T U F F.
Missy's new friend Baily, who she is obsessed with. I've never seen her so full of energy.
We spent Thanksgiving up with our friends, the Neely Family at their home in the mountains and all of their family. That was great as the food was good and everyone was so nice. They probably thought I was just crazy, but that is normal for me. Me and my stories... My mouth gets running when I get nervous. I just can't stop myself. Then I think I have a story that goes along with their story and I have to tell it. Ah well, I was the "crazy relative" that was not really related this year. Heh.
On Friday the girls strung cranberries for the
birds. They are just plain regular crans out of the bag. Once a
string is done the girls threw them in the trees on the branches.
On Saturday we went to the mountains and cut down our own Christmas Tree! Now THAT'S something I've never done in my whole life. Sure, I've done it on a Christmas Tree FARM. Nope, This ain't no FARM we are talking about, this is Mountian Christmas Tree cutting!!!! You buy a permit for $10 to cut down a tree and man alive, that was a hike. The last few years we've been told that there is so much snow, up to your knees, that it is hard to climb the mountain to find your own little "Charlie Brown" to take home with you. Here's ours:
Check back again for a contest for a bucket 'o yarn. Me needs to de-stash some more stash and what better way to do that, then to send some off for free! I'll let you know when that will start and what the rules are.

Ok, so the movers came yesterday and packed up. Man, those guys work fast! It's wierd to see people touching your stuff. Enough move talk. Picture time.
Last day of my Spinning Group. Look at those ladies go (that's only half of 'em). My friend Cathy made me a Mason-Dixon washcloth out of yellow and white and orange and it is awesome! Thanks Cathy! (Colorado, can I come to your group? I'm really fun! Har!)
One of the most darling set of boo-tocks you'll ever see. This one is usually waggling back and forth. No tail, so she makes up for it with her whole back end.
The girls LOVE their Missy-girl. Missy is feeling especially needy these days with all of the boxes everywhere. (So am I) Have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Please, if you pray, will you pray for a safe drive for our family and a good move! Thanks!!!

Today starts the week of our move to Colorado. I thought I'd start with a little bit of a fresh look with a new Blog Title and a (slightly) new Blog Look.
We had four parties last week. All involved goodbyes. One involved my knitter girls, some you can see above (that's Suzanne, owner of Knitting in La Jolla on MY couch! With my friend Lisa next to her, and Yoly closest to you in the picture.)
So tomorrow is Monday and we are starting the packing process. This is big folks. Really big. The pressure is on. In fact, The Man, is actually showing some stress. This is a guy who laughs by smiling, who loves me with a pat on the back, who lets things roll off his back without a second thought. The Man isn't sleeping, and is looking obsessivly at the photos of the house that I bought without him.
My Christmas Cactus has bloomed. That brings in the hummingbirds. That is the one plant that I'm bringing with us to Denver.
Ok, so look for more details later. The time line is this:
Monday= The new buyers do their walk through.
Tuesday= We pack the stuff we want to take in our car.
Wednesday= The movers come and pack up the house.
Thursday=The movers are still packing.
Friday= The big semi comes and all of our stuff is loaded up and driven away.
Saturday= We drive away from San Diego, and into our new life.
Whew, just a few things going on.

Kid 2 likes to tell us the weather.
Every morning.
She grabs the paper and starts to recite, "At the beach, 81. Island (Inland) 89. In the mountains, 86. In the Desert it's 87." She does this very seriously, and shows us the pictures of each place she talks about even though those little cartoon like pictures stay the same each day.
Our weather doesn't change much here. Then when it does, the real weather people call it "Storm Watch, 2006" or whatever year it happens to be. I find this to be ridiculous. But Kid 2 and the weather people show the same excitement.
Maybe she'll be a weather person on TV someday. Not a bad job, if you can get it!
School Carnival
We had a school carnival as our fund raiser this year and The Man and I worked the "Balloon Dart" and "Temporary Tattoo" Booths. The Man looks like he's not smiling, but he is. We had a VERY popular booth this year. 
Thiss is Kid 2 with her teacher and her best friend (my best friend's daughter.) 
And, last but not least here is my best friend's son and I, enjoying his free cotton candy.
We are buddies. He is a shy little guy, but with me, not at all. I've been working hard at that since he was tiny. To these two kids (the girl up top with kid 1) I'm called Auntie M. Whoops, I'm getting teary, so time to move on from this subject. Aren't they cute!
Bowling Alley Party!
Yesterday we had a bowling party for each girl. Kid 1 invited the girls from her class (and you can see some brother's tagged along) and they had one lane to themselves. These guys came to say good by and she got some cool gifts, and one big one from her class. A cool San Diego map signed by the whole class, which we will put up on her new room.
And for Kid 2, the same. It was a going away party, with an early birthday thrown in since we won't be here with all her friends in December.
My blog for these next few weeks might be full of goodbye photos. It is that time. We have only 10 more days until that semi pulls away with all our stuff. OK, enough for now. This is a KNITTING and Scrapbook blog! (sorry, no scrapbooking lately - it's ALL packed away) We will return to regular programing sometime in December. For now, it'll be pictures, pictures, pictures.....
Oh yeah, Shelly from Kitten Yarns and Crafts let me know that I was talking about Johnny Depp in my last post. You know, the guy who plays What's-his-name in that pirate movie. What was the name of that movie again?! Thanks Shelly - it was driving my CRAZY!

Well, I think it's been two weeks, so I'm overdue for a post. Sorry about that. We are in our last two weeks before the move so I'm trying to cram in all the California things in for the kiddos, which you'll see some Disneyland later.
But first.... an AFO. What's an AFO you ask? Why, it's an ALMOST FINISHED OBJECT.... Check it out!
It's a baby sweater for my little God Sister's new baby "Ava". I just have to sew on the buttons. My very FIRST baby project!
And, what's this? Progress on the Clapotis (which I like to call "The Clap") It is a mindless knitting project that stays in a quart size zip lock in my purse at all times. You may remember my previous post where I could not for the life of me figure out the cast on. And, I hated it. Now, it's not so bad. I just want it done. But oooooooooo look at those colors. Collinette Tao, in Madres. Yum.
Now for some Spinning Content
These are kind of boring, but I had to show it for those readers who are in my spinning classes. In fact, they kind of look like mud, but in person, they look pretty cool. We all were given two small bumps of blended fiber to spin up. Out of that we decided we would knit up four 4x4 swatches to be bound together into a lap sweater by my friend Sheena. We get to put our names in a hat for each swatch that we put in. Whomever's (Whoever's?) name is drawn, wins! Cool idea yes?
This is 100% Bamboo fiber, handyed by Fun With Yarn That girl has talent. Get on her mailing list so you know when to order her stuff. She uploads all at once a HUGE fiber, and hand spun yarn update and you've got to order fast or you're out of luck. Go check out her site. You won't be sorry. I'm a little surprised at Bamboo. It is almost a little finer than some of the silk that I have spun up. It also has a shorter staple and not very much memory. But, the color. Awesome!
This is some awesome stuff I ordered from Hello Yarn. Her colors are also AMAZING!!!! I spun up a lace weight single, then spun up some bulky thick and thin and got this. I have another 4 oz. bag to spin up so I'll have enough to make a VERY cool and warm scarf (hhhmmm, cool and warm?!?). 100% Merino Wool Top called "Tooth of the Sea."
Now it's time for some YARN P@RN!
Look what I got!!!!! I traded some of my hand-dyed silk and merino 50/50 (the purple you see on the far right) for some of Scout's handpainted sock yarn. You guys, now you REALLY have to listen to me. GO RIGHT NOW to Scout's Swag Shop. That girl has EVERYTHING!!!! I ordered this cool Namaste bag, but now Kid 1 wants it for school, so I need to order another one. I also got this "Go Knit" pouch in Camo. Scout has FAST shipping, and I LOVE that. This yarn is for Halloween, but I'll have to knit it up for next year's Halloween. LOVE IT!
And, here is a stunning new-ish colorway "Plum Thunder" from Kristine Brook's Curious Creek Fibers. You can find this at Knitting in La Jolla and other stores around the West Coast. Call Suzanne at KLJ. She ships! You know I'll be doing that after I move!
Jack Sparrow and his Girlfriends
Well Mr. Sparrow and his Girlfriends got to meet up this last week. Ya know. The guy IS kind of cute. The new Pirates of the Caribbean now includes Jack, and all his cronies from the movie and they did an amazing job. If I didn't know better, I would have thought that what's-his-name was standing in that ride himself.... (what the heck is his name!?!) These girls have him plastered on their walls - have they seen the movie? No, they just LOVE him in his pirate costume. They say he doesn't "look right, he looks FUNNY" as a normal Joe. Aahhhh, the wonders of Hollywood, eh?
We went to Disneyland to use our passes one more time, but we didn't think about the fact that it was the Saturday BEFORE Halloween. Not good. The place was PACKED and only got worse as the day went on. The kids had a blast. The moms? Not so much... but it is worth it for the kids, right?
Last but not least. I leave you with this. Knitting in Line. That SAVED my sanity. I attached my little "Go Knit" pouch to my backpack (in "Turtle-quoise, as Erica says - I didn't have my new camo one yet) and I KNIT away! Talk about cool and easy. I got a LOT of stares, but good ones. (I think)
Moving News
Move date is still the same: November 18th very early in the AM - like six-ish. The girls have a Thanksgiving feast at school Friday the 17th that I didn't want them to miss. That's TWO weeks people. I'm starting to panic, have funny thoughts, miss stupid things, and not-so stupid things.
We are having THREE parties this week.
Today is Monday, and on Tuesday I'm having a party at a bowling alley for the girly-o's. All the girls from each class and we are also celebrating Kid 2's birthday a month early so she can have it with all her friends.
Thursday we are having a big party at our favorite restaurant here in Point Loma. Good Friends and Family coming to say Goodbye.
And last - On Friday I've invited my knitting and spinning friends over for a pot-luck and some knitting. I'm dying here people. These guys have NO idea what they have done for me in the short year I've been knitting and spinning. I started Knitting in October of last year, and I got my first wheel in November of last year. All the people coming on Friday have had some VERY important part in my life. Some of them are YOU dear readers. Thank you. Thank you.......
