A New Painting

On Saturday before the wedding, I was sitting by the sliding glass window in my living room reading my new How Magazine and just loving all of the cool looking graphics inside when I got an idea.  Where I do my "quiet" reading is in the living room across from where I do my painting.  We haven't done any decorating in there at all, so I keep a table up with paint tubes, jars, brushes, oil pastels, etc. all over it. My easel always has something in progress just waiting for the next "thing" to hit me.

The front cover of "How" had a little lady in a skirt holding a banner that said, "Pick Me".  I knew that I had to use her somehow.  I get this manic-ness about me, when I have an idea, I have to do it right then and there. The canvas that was sitting on my easel I had been stumped over.  Not liking where it had gone or where it was going I just have to let something sit for awhile until I get a BUG and have to go with it. I ripped up the magazine, cut out stuff and just played.  This is what I came up with and my sister caught it all on the camera.

These Pictures Say it All.

These are my girls.  Hard to believe that I can qualify now as the "mother of the flowergirls".  Am I old enough for that?

This is Katie.  Her parents are my God-Parents.  That makes us God-Sisters.  I was in her parent's wedding in the '70's.  Katie was in my wedding in 1991.  Now, my girls are in her wedding.  Very cool.

My model nephew, Daniel.  Check him out!  Looking suave and debonier.  Probably didn't spell those right.  Oh well,  It is the little man that counts here.  He's got a brother - equally stunning!

Last Night

My little "baby" godsister is getting married tomorrow.  Shoot, I feel old. 

She was just born about a minute ago.  I was just looking with wonder at her little bent feet, and her red, scrunched up face.  No, WAIT, I just caught her playing with my makeup, then hanging on my fiance Byron, "Ben digger" to her since she couldn't remember his name and that one stuck.  Five years later, she is babysitting MY kids.  Now, WHAT !!!!!!!??????!!!!!!!  She is getting married????  Ok, I know I'm not her parents (who really are my "other" parents), but this has GOT to freak them out.  HELLOOOOO, their only baby, getting married, moving on, growing up.  I'm so not ready, but as you can see from this entry - it's only just around the corner.

I got this shot out when we were on the bay for Byron's Birthday. The Tall Ships are in town, having their cannon wars, and just generally looking pretty. Hope you enjoy!

Something Must have been funny

Point Loma has it's famous Concert in the Park series,  This August I was only able to go to one, but Byron and the kids went to almost all of them.  The first pic below is me with my VERY funny friend Paul.  Something he said made me LAUGH OUT LOUD.  Not hard to do, but Byron caught a rare pic of me.  Usually I'm behind the camera.

This is my husband Byron.  Still makes my heart beat fast.  A great father. A hard worker.  A darn good looking guy.  He left today for 5 days on a training trip to Atlanta I think.  He's gone so much I can never keep up with where he is.  He'll be back on Friday...Today is Monday.  That is a    L   O  N   G     time. 

Yesterday we celebrated his 40th birthday.  Woah.....

Wendi Speciale had a challenge yesterday to tell her what this newly created stamp means.....

I had a thought that it meant "I Love You".  My college roommate and I kindof made up this little thing.  We used to flash 143 to our "boyfriends" that we thought we loved (smile). We'd hold up 1 finger, 4 fingers, 3 fingers, through closed car windows, from across the quad, and in the palm of their hands. We decided it was a way to be mushy without other people knowing that we were being mushy.

Now, I do it to my kiddos. "143 Erica !!!!!" "143 Devin !!!" "Mommy 143 !!!!"

Gotta 134 that.....

At the Beach and Blog Reading

Last night after dinner we headed down to the beach, took Missy and the surfboards, the boogyboards and played!  These pictures say it all.  I need to make some cool pages with these, but for now, just the raw images.   Enjoy the San Diego views and a funny, old happy dog.

Here is a layout that I did for the Creating Keepsakes Sketch for November that did not get picked up.  Bummer, but I got a good page out of it !  Anyway, here you go...

On the Right page, the bottom is a pocket and those are seperate tags that come out and tell about the  handmade ornaments my parents made for thier first Christmas together.  Those three wisemen?  They are made out of tin and hand painted by my mother.  Very special.
